The Library of Old Scholars of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences: Studies on the Eunuchs of the Ming Dynasty and Beyond contains a collection of the authors' published essays on economics, politics, justice, national defense and science and technology. It firstly fills some gaps in the study of Ming history, especially the history of eunuchs in the Ming Dynasty; secondly, on the basis of the existing studies on the cabinet system of the Ming Dynasty and Zhang Juzheng's reforms, it makes additions and puts forward its own new viewpoints; and thirdly, it hooks the index and introduces the two lesser-known and important historical books, the Rhetoric and the Divine Artifacts Spectrum.
