This book is the 2nd volume of the 6-volume History of Marxist Historical Thought, which focuses on the study of early Marxist historical thought.The formation and development of Engels's historiographical thought is one of the important contents of this book, including Engels's theory of the evolution of the path of human history, the epistemology of history and the method of historiography.Regarding the spread of Marxist historiographical thought in Europe, the author explains in greater depth the historiographical thought of Lafargue, Kautsky, Mehring, Plekhanov and others.Lenin's application and development of Marxist historiographical thought, especially his theory of historical understanding and theory of the path of world history, are also analysed in this book in terms of the combination of theory and practice.
