本书系统地阐述了创新型城市、城市创新系统、城市创新能力的内涵、特征及三者间的关系，提出城市创新系统是创新型城市的核心系统，城市创新能力是城市创新系统功能的集中体现，是衡量城市创新系统运行情况的综合指标。根据创新型城市理论和城市创新系统的理论，构建了基于主体（Subject）—对象（Object）—过程（Process）的城市创新系统理论模型（简称SOP模型），从三维层面对创新型城市的建设过程做了基础建模。
This book systematically expounds the connotation, characteristics and relationship between innovative cities, urban innovation systems and urban innovation capabilities, and proposes that urban innovation system is the core system of innovative cities, urban innovation ability is the concentrated embodiment of the functions of urban innovation systems, and is a comprehensive indicator to measure the operation of urban innovation systems. According to the theory of innovative city and urban innovation system, a theoretical model of urban innovation system (referred to as SOP model) based on Subject-Object-Process is constructed, and the construction process of innovative city is basically modeled from the three-dimensional level.
