Walking Hard in the Divided World Economy
In 2019, the international political and economic situation became even more complex. The world economy grew more slowly than expected, geopolitical competition among major powers continued to heat up, and global economic governance was difficult. China must not only deal with the impact of trade protectionism and stabilise domestic economic and trade growth, but also promote regional and global economic cooperation to help the world economy continue to grow. Against this backdrop, China's economic diplomacy has moved forward with heavy responsibilities, achieving certain results at the global, regional and bilateral levels. China continues to safeguard the rules-based global trading system with practical actions, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation with other countries using multilateral economic cooperation platforms, and seize the opportunities of the new technological revolution to provide impetus for world economic growth.
Based on this, this book seeks to review, sort out and analyse the important events and major developments in China's economic diplomacy in 2019, with a particular focus on the two mainstays of economic diplomacy: Sino-US economic and trade negotiations and the Belt and Road Initiative. The book is divided into sections such as annual reports, special reports, monthly reports, important events, related events, related literature, academic literature, data collection, and a chronology of Sino-US economic and trade frictions, providing key factual details, important data references and valuable commentary for the study of China's economic diplomacy.
