Landscpe Making,Space Dominating and State Transition:The Topography of a Northen City
This book is about the geography of a small northern city. As an attempt to integrate historical anthropology and urban community research, this book draws on anthropology's "geographic turn" to focus on the materiality of the world, and uses the concept of "landscape production" to present the geographical context of a city through the historical changes of the city's overall space and historical buildings, public space and homes, and explores its power, culture and history. Based on the historical practice of urban landscape production, different types of spatial domination are summarized: "symbolic domination" in the late imperial period, "overall domination" before reform and opening up, and "life domination" in the present. Finally, the national transformation of China since modern times is discussed.
