本书在阐述共享发展意义、渊源、内涵和特征的基础上，通过实地调研，系统总结湖南省四个县（区、市）共享发展实践的做法、经验和存在的问题，提出了政策建议。还通过构建指标体系，评估了湖南省各地级市（州）的共享发展水平。
On the basis of expounding the meaning, origin, connotation and characteristics of shared development, this book systematically summarizes the practices, experiences and existing problems of shared development practice in four counties (districts and cities) in Hunan Province through field research, and puts forward policy suggestions. Through the construction of an index system, the shared development level of cities (prefectures) in Hunan Province was also evaluated.
