The object of this book is the relationship between erudition and ethnohistory writing, mainly examining the relationship between the European-wide academic context from the Renaissance to the Enlightenment and British ethnohistory, analyzing how humanism brought about changes in British ethnohistory writing, thus allowing the erudition and ethnohistory research methodology to be birthed in the British soil, and then demonstrating that the study of erudition has been a catalyst for British ethnohistory, as well as Western ethnohistory.
