中华文明源远流长，弄清中华文明起源的时间、地点、族群、过程、动力机制和五帝时代的历史，对于增强中华民族软实力、民族自豪感和凝聚力具有重要作用。但是，我们要弄清那段历史却并非易事。本书运用文化人类学图腾理论对《山海经》进行解读，考察了传世、出土、民族等文献记载和新石器时代考古研究成果，首次简略地勾勒出中华文明起源和五帝史发展的轮廓。

Chinese civilization has a long history, and understanding the time, place, ethnic group, process, dynamic mechanism and history of the era of the Five Emperors of Chinese civilization plays an important role in enhancing the soft power, national pride and cohesion of the Chinese nation. But it is not easy to make sense of that history. This book uses the totem theory of cultural anthropology to interpret the Classic of Mountains and Seas, examines the documentary records of inheritance, excavation, ethnicity and other documents and Neolithic archaeological research results, and briefly outlines the outline of the origin of Chinese civilization and the development of the history of the Five Emperors for the first time.
