Based on the macroscopic vision of contemporary Chinese literary history, this book systematically sorts out the development and evolution of western prose since the 1940s, pointing out that "cultural imagination", "western spirit" and "family and country consciousness" constitute the internal spiritual structure of western prose, which not only makes western prose show different characteristics and meteorology in the contemporary Chinese literary landscape, but also constantly stirs up moving appeal in dialogue with the spirit of the times. As the final result of the National Social Science Foundation project, this work aims to summarize a more universal creative experience through the study of contemporary western Chinese prose, and the interpretation of "creative mode" and "local imagination" is a concentrated embodiment of this goal. Taking the western prose creation of Zhou Tao and Ma Lihua as an example, this book analyzes the cultural stance, personality spirit and aesthetic pursuit of western writers, so as to gain an in-depth understanding of contemporary western prose in China.
