"Novel Xinbao" (1915-1923) was a base camp of citizen writers (the so-called old-school writers or Mandarin duck butterfly writers) in the early Minchu Dynasty, and was a large-scale popular literary journal with a long duration (9 years), a large number of circulation issues (a total of 94 issues), a wide circulation range, and a large influence. This book abandons the "shock-response model" commonly used in the study of the modernization process of Chinese literature, and adopts the "self-induction-response model", highlighting "endogenous" rather than "exogenous". The book includes the legitimacy and transformation of "Novel Xinbao" and Minchu novels, the legitimacy and transformation of "Novel Xinbao" and Minchu short stories, the endogenous changes of "Novel Xinbao" and the art of early Minchu novels, the continuation of "Novel Xinbao" and traditional poetry, "Novel Xinbao" and early Minchu singing literature and its small traditions, the transformation of "Novel Xinbao" and traditional opera, "Novel Xinbao" and China's small tradition of harmonious literature, "Novel Xinbao" and traditional literary criticism style and its new changes, "Novel Xinbao" The nine chapters, such as the improvement and adaptation of the literature of the old school of the early Minchu period, are rich in content and not lacking in creativity.
