本书是我国第一部关于古代戏曲观研究的专著。全书以“戏曲观”为逻辑起点,以“古代学人”为切入口,以戏曲理论文献为研究平台,以“戏曲何谓”(本质论)和“戏曲何为”(功能论)为基本问题域,在“观念史”方法的统摄下,通过戏乐与伎艺、歌舞与声色、诗学与尊体、曲学与辨体、剧学与得体、总结与综合、花雅与民间化、会通与现代等概念范畴的阐释和解读,不仅展示了中国古代戏曲观从泛化到窄化的历时性过程,也暗示了从窄化再到泛化的现代趋势,同时也显现了从庙堂的统治者和学人到江湖的意见领袖与大众的共时性交集,更为重要的则是,本书建构了一幅从两汉到晚清戏曲观的缠变图谱。

This book is the first monograph on the study of ancient opera concepts in China.
