本书对于传统中国多个学术研究领域的问题意识、研究范式、理论与方法等进行了多方面的探索、研究。既有对于相关领域国内外已有研究的宏观反思，也有作者对于相关研究在问题意识、研究范式和研究方法上的新的探索、开拓与具体尝试的个案研究。整体上体现了作者这些年来力图在跨学科、多学科融合基础上进行学术研究的特色。一方面力图运用多史源的、更为丰富多样的材料，在深入发掘材料内涵基础上，发覆所研究问题的历史真相；一方面借助更为开阔、多学科的理论视域与研究方法，在新的学术问题意识引导下，形成新的学术观点。

刘方，文学博士，湖州师范学院教授。浙江省新世纪151人才，浙江省高校中青年学科带头人，校学术委员会委员，校人文社科专家委员会副主任，学报副主编。在《中国社会科学》《文艺研究》《文艺理论研究》《外国文学研究》等期刊发表学术论文80余篇，承担国家、教育部和浙江省社科规划重点项目等省、部级及以上课题十余项。在人民出版社、上海古籍出版社等出版《中国禅宗美学的思想发生与历史演进》《中国美学基本精神及其现代意义》《宋型文化与宋代美学精神》《唐宋变革与宋代审美文化转型》《盛世繁华：宋代江南城市文化的繁荣与变迁》《汴京与临安：两宋文学中的双城记》等学术专著10部。多次获得省、市优秀社科成果奖。
