本著在简要梳理当代中国西部小说发展历程的基础上，对当代中国西部小说从叙事的视域进行了归纳、阐释和判断，认为当代中国西部小说已逐渐形成了自成体系的叙事形态——中国西部小说叙事学。西部小说的叙事形态，突出表现在西部作家的具体创作中对“精神结构”、“文化基因”和“冲突模式”三个维度的把握上。这三个维度的共时性呈现，既使西部小说彰显了鲜明的地域性特质，又使西部小说超越地域而表现出普遍的文学史精神。本著还单列“史评接受论”，深入探探讨了西部小说进入中国当代文学史序列的必要性与可能性。

On the basis of briefly combing the development process of contemporary western Chinese novels, this book summarizes, explains and judges contemporary western Chinese novels from the perspective of narrative, and believes that contemporary western Chinese novels have gradually formed a self-contained narrative form - narratology of western Chinese novels. 王贵禄（1967—），男，汉族，甘肃秦安人。文学博士，天水师范学院破格教授，硕士研究生导师，现为天水师范学院文传学院副院长。主要从事中国西部文学、延安文艺、底层写作、当代影视等领域的研究。中国现代文学研究会、中国鲁迅研究会会员。2005年以来先后在《陕西师范大学学报》、《兰州大学学报》、《文艺争鸣》、《文艺理论与批评》、《当代文坛》等学术刊物发表论文近50篇，出版专著3部。主持国家社科基金项目、省社科项目、省教育厅项目等科研项目多项，并参与国家社科基金重大招标项目“延安文艺与20世纪中国文学研究”。研究成果获甘肃省哲学社会科学优秀成果奖、陕西省哲学社会科学优秀成果奖、甘肃省高校社科成果奖、陕西省高校社科成果奖等多项奖励。
