On the basis of briefly combing the development process of contemporary western Chinese novels, this book summarizes, explains and judges contemporary western Chinese novels from the perspective of narrative, and believes that contemporary western Chinese novels have gradually formed a self-contained narrative form - narratology of western Chinese novels. The narrative form of Western novels is prominently manifested in the grasp of the three dimensions of "spiritual structure", "cultural gene" and "conflict mode" in the specific creation of Western writers. The synchronic presentation of these three dimensions not only makes Western novels show distinctive regional characteristics, but also makes Western novels transcend regions and show the universal spirit of literary history. This book also lists a separate "Theory of Historical Criticism", which deeply explores the necessity and possibility of western fiction entering the sequence of contemporary Chinese literary history.
