The 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) held at the end of 2017 established Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as the guiding ideology of the CPC, along with Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory, the Important Thought of the Three Represents, and the Scientific Outlook on Development, thus laying the ideological foundation for the assertion that socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era. This has laid the ideological foundation for the assertion that socialism has entered a new era, and provided theoretical support for the judgment that the main contradiction in Chinese society has been transformed. The National Association for the Study of the Theory of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics held its annual academic conference with the theme of “Theory and Practice of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era” at Shihezi University in Xinjiang in mid-2017, and conducted in-depth discussions on the theoretical innovations of the CPC since the 18th National Congress, and then held a conference on the theme of “In-depth Study and Implementation of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era” at Renmin University of China after the 19th National Congress. After the 19th CPC National Congress, a mini forum was held at Renmin University of China under the theme of “In-depth Study and Implementation of the Spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress”.
