“佛事文学”指的是在佛事上应用的具有浓郁文学色彩的言辞与歌辞,本书主要从发展史的角度进行研究,分作佛事表白文学与音乐文学两编。
佛事表白文学,两晋南北朝时代,其名“唱导”,本书的研究以辩名求实为主;唐代,以对敦煌文献文本分析为主;宋代,出现新的种类——小佛事文,研究以此为重点。
佛事音乐文学种类繁多而代有增损,汉晋之世,传说众多,问题在于正读;晋隋时代,异彩纷呈而文本甚少,重点在性质与影响;唐宋时期,法曲子产生,主要探讨其与曲子词的关系。又,俗讲与唱导无关,与科仪有关,研究以比较分析为主。
