Since the founding of New China, with the dramatic changes in Chinese society and culture, Chinese literature and art have undergone many transformations. On the basis of “history” as the main clue, this book arranges the chapter structure with literary trends as the main body. Taking both history and logic into account, the chapters are organized in the same section for those literary trends of the same or similar nature, even if they did not occur in the same time period, in order to highlight the complete connotation and development of the trend. The book is divided into twenty-eight topics. Based on the principle of objectivity and fairness, the author analyzes the inner vein of the development of literature and art on the basis of a clear compendium of various literary trends, and strives to present the seventy years of development of New China's literature and art in a comprehensive and organized manner.
