2017年8月，中国社会科学院近代史研究所社会史研究中心与杭州师范大学民国浙江史研究中心在杭州举办了以“地方文献、区域社会与国家治理”为主题的第七届中国近代社会史国际学术研讨会。本书为会议论文集结而成，分“学术回顾”“地方治理与区域社会…‘新观念与社会演变”“传统社会与革命新生”四个专题，在延续“区域社会”研究的基础上，展开对“国家治理”这一新概念的讨论。

In August 2017, the Social History Research Center of the Institute of Modern History of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Zhejiang History Research Center of the Republic of China of Hangzhou Normal University held the 7th International Symposium on Modern Chinese Social History with the theme of "Local Literature, Regional Society and National Governance" in Hangzhou. This book is a collection of conference papers, divided into four topics: "Academic Review", "Local Governance and Regional Society...'New Concepts and Social Evolution", and "Traditional Society and Revolutionary Rebirth", and discusses the new concept of "national governance" on the basis of continuing the research on "regional society".
