The author has long been engaged in the research of Qing history and Manchu history, and has always attached importance to the combination of literature research and fieldwork. In the 20 years from 2001 to 2019, he was engaged in more than 80 surveys of historical sites of the Qing Dynasty. The first of the 15 survey reports included in this book are the first results. The content includes the relics of the Eight Flags garrison, the local Manchu people in the past and present, the historical sites of the "San Francisco", the ethnic culture of the frontiers, as well as the investigation of battlefields, passes, government offices, guild halls, temples, ancient towns, and post stations. The report pays attention to collecting information such as inscriptions, historical records, genealogy, photographs and oral materials, and pays attention to recording the historical memories of interviewees and expressions of national identity and ethnic relations. It aims to promote related research and provide a new window for understanding the history, ethnicity, region and culture of the Qing Dynasty.
