In the spring of science, the Institute of Information of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences at that time successively founded journals such as "Foreign Social Sciences", "Summary of Foreign Social Science Works", "Foreign Social Science Bulletin", "Foreign Social Science Index" and other journals in just two years, plus the original "Foreign Social Science Trends", forming a total of five information and information series. These journals complemented each other and had their own characteristics, which had a good influence in the academic community at that time. At the beginning of its inception, Foreign Social Sciences paid special attention to and introduced some frontier disciplines or research directions in the world at that time, such as futurology, science, ecology, information science, social psychology, interdisciplinary and interdisciplinary research, globalization issues, cybernetics, foreign Chinese studies and other emerging disciplines and majors, which promoted the creation of related disciplines in China, filled the gaps in some academic fields, and promoted the in-depth of related research and the expansion of professional fields. From 1978 to 2018, the journal "Foreign Social Sciences" went through 40 spring and autumn years. In the past 40 years, the journal "Foreign Social Sciences" has published a total of 330 issues, publishing more than 10,000 articles and tens of millions of words. As the source journal of the Chinese social science citation index, the national Chinese core journal, the core journal of Chinese literature and social sciences, and the first batch of journals funded by the National Social Science Foundation, Foreign Social Sciences actively draws on and absorbs useful academic achievements in the world on the basis of adhering to the correct direction and academic orientation, and has made due contributions to promoting the innovation and development of Chinese philosophy and social sciences. 40 years of hard work, 40 years of spring and autumn. "Over the past 40 years, we have always adhered to our own philosophy of running a journal, adhered to China's position, expanded our international vision, gained insight into the global context, kept close to the concerns and thinking of the academic community, tracked foreign academic and theoretical trends, and actively absorbed or learned from the excellent achievements of advanced and applicable human civilization. On May 14, 2017, General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out in his speech at the opening ceremony of the first Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation that we "should transcend civilizational barriers through civilizational exchanges, transcend civilizational conflicts with mutual learning among civilizations, and transcend civilizational superiority through civilizational coexistence, and promote mutual understanding, mutual respect and mutual trust among countries."
