本书是城市历史地理与文化名城保护专题研究的论文集，内容以古都西安历史地理为主，重点探讨了秦都咸阳城市发展的时空特点、秦汉隋唐都城布局思想从天文到地理的演变、唐长安城南别业园林的构成要素与布局特点，以及与西安城市发展相关的地理基础、卫星城、关中城镇体系及古城墙功能等，还涉及沙漠古都统万城、中原古都洛阳与郑州以及中国古代都城变迁的基本规律。在中国古都学尤其是以古都西安为研究对象的西安学方面，具有学科理论、研究方法与学术观点上的创新。关于古都西安的专题研究在西安市城市与文化建设上显示出现实意义，比如在曲江、航天城、西咸新区、大明宫及昆明池等规划设计中起到了历史借鉴作用。

This book is a collection of papers on the special research on urban historical geography and the protection of famous cultural cities, the content is mainly based on the historical geography of the ancient capital Xi'an, focusing on the temporal and spatial characteristics of the urban development of Xianyang, the Qin, Han, Sui and Tang capitals, the evolution of the layout ideas of the Qin, Han, Sui and Tang capitals from astronomy to geography, the composition elements and layout characteristics of the gardens in the south of Tang Chang'an City, as well as the geographical foundation, satellite city, Guanzhong town system and ancient city wall functions related to the urban development of Xi'an, etc., and also involves the ancient desert capital Tongwancheng, The basic laws of the changes of Luoyang and Zhengzhou, the ancient capitals of the Central Plains, and ancient China. In the field of ancient capital studies in China, especially Xi'an Studies, which takes the ancient capital of Xi'an as the research object, it has innovations in discipline theory, research methods and academic views. The special research on the ancient capital of Xi'an has shown practical significance in the urban and cultural construction of Xi'an, such as the planning and design of Qujiang, Aerospace City, Xixian New Area, Daming Palace and Kunming Pond.
