This book contains twenty-one essays on the theme of "The Evolution of the Concept of Style in Ancient China".These papers are related to each other to a certain extent, discussing the historical process and morphological manifestations of the evolution of the concept of literary style in ancient China from different research objects, different problem areas and different theoretical perspectives, with the intention of sorting out, identifying and interpreting some of the important academic issues in the concept of literary style and literary criticism in ancient China through the theoretical or documentary level, which are worthy of full attention.The study of stylistic concepts covers a wide range of disciplines with a high degree of comprehensiveness, and the areas and issues to be investigated are even more complex.Therefore, the equal importance of history and literature in research, the pursuit of literary and historical taste, the strengthening of problem awareness, and the emphasis on the mutual support and invention between macro-examination and case study analysis have become a kind of academic concepts and methods, which have been reflected to varying degrees in the essays collected in this volume.The papers collected in this volume are the stage research results of the major project of the National Social Science Foundation of China, "Collating and Researching the Literature of Ancient Chinese Stylistic Concepts", and are the results of the symposium on "Paths and Methods of Ancient Chinese Stylistic Concepts" held in Xi'an, China, in March and October 2019, respectively."The research results are selected and edited from the papers of the symposiums held in March and October 2019 in Xi'an.The papers are all written by members of the subject group.
