The history of ancient Chinese prose has a long history. From the perspective of a broad view of prose, this book selects 16 different general histories of prose, such as Chen Zhu's History of Chinese Prose, Guo Xianheng's History of Chinese Prose, Torao Suzuki's Essentials of Fu History, Ma Jigao's History of Fu, Liu Linsheng's History of Chinese Qiwen, and Zhang Renqing's History of the Development of Chinese Qiwen, to discuss the author's writing ideas and methods, and strive to show the basic features of ancient prose history. In order to dominate the whole book, the first chapter "Related Issues in the Study of Ancient Prose History" explains some basic issues in the current research of ancient prose history, and the last chapter, "Investigation Report on the Writing of the General History of Ancient Prose", makes a specific comparison, statement and analysis of the chapters, content arrangements, writers' works and other aspects of the general history of ancient prose, in order to have a more thorough and clear understanding of the problems existing in the writing of ancient prose history, and promote the improvement of ancient prose history writing.
