The initiative of 21st Century Maritime Silk Road put forward by China highly tallies with the development plan of Global Maritime Fulcrum forged by Indonesia, this has become consensus of the leaders of the two nations. How to dock with the two strategies and make a blueprint of maritime cooperation between China and Indonesia is one of key projects in building 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.
Indonesia is one of maritime fulcrum in 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, and also became one of the largest maritime countries in the whole world. The ocean channel, marine economy and marine culture in Indonesia have important strategic significance for China’s construction of 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.
Fujian is an important starting point of the ancient maritime Silk Road, an it is an important bridge between China and the world in history. Now Fujian has become the core area of building 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.
The research group went to Indonesia and Fujian to conduct field research, through the focus interviews with government departments, academic institutions and enterprises to conduct in-depth investigation, acquired a large number of first-hand materials.
Based on field research, through the collection and analysis of materials, from perspective of comparison, this think tank report put forward the blueprint for docking with the two strategies.
That is to conformity the existing mechanism for establishment of a high-level silk road docking working group; take measures to develop the marine economy partnership; take comprehensive measures to promote infrastructure development partnership; tap the potentials for building energy partnership
Based on the different political systems and customs in Indonesia and China, this report puts forward three major risks encountered by China and Indonesia in cooperation, namely the issues of geo-political , the rising of nationalism and attacks of terrorism.
