《中国少数民族古籍珍品图典——民族古文字古籍整理研究100年通览》是我国改革开放以来民族古籍工作的重要阶段性成果。本书收录大量少数民族古籍珍品图片，以形象、科学的方式向读者展示我国民族古籍的宝贵财富，总结以往100年来的整理研究成果，为少数民族语言、文字、社会、文化研究提供翔实的资料，也为事业的延续和人才的成长营造合适的平台，为今后的整理研究工作奠定较为坚实的基础。

我国是多民族国家，各民族都有自己的辉煌历史和灿烂文化。少数民族文化与汉民族文化共同构成璀璨的中华文化。文字是文明进步的成果，是一个民族文化发展水平的标志。除汉字以外，不少少数民族曾在不同时代创制、使用过本民族的文字。其中有些文字早已不使用了，有些则几经变革，延续使用至今。这些文字种类繁多，都有悠久的历史。其中既有图画文字、象形文字，又有表意文字、表音文字，几乎囊括了人类文字发展各个阶段的各种形态。而且使用这些民族文字记载的文献数量巨大，可与汉文文献相媲美。

Our country is a multi-ethnic country, and all ethnic groups have their own glorious history and splendid culture. Ethnic minority culture and Han culture together constitute a brilliant Chinese culture. Writing is the result of civilization and progress and a sign of the level of development of a nation's culture. In addition to Chinese characters, many ethnic minorities have created and used their own scripts at different times. Some of these scripts have long been out of use, while others have been changed several times and continue to be used today. These scripts are diverse and all have a long history. Among them, there are both pictorial text, hieroglyphics, ideograms, and phonetic characters, covering almost all forms at all stages of the development of human writing. Moreover, the number of documents recorded in these ethnic languages is huge, comparable to Chinese literature.
