孟立军，重庆市人，博士，中南民族大学教育学院教授、博士生导师。获得“国家民委突出贡献专家奖”和湖北省“有突出贡献的中青年专家”称号。曾兼任湖北省人民政府第三届学位委员会委员、第四届咨询委员会特邀专家。现兼任中国教育人类学学会副理事长、湖北省教育法律与政策研究会顾问等。独立和合作出版专著三十余部，发表论文百余篇，获得省部级社科奖十余项。其中《中国少数民族高等教育学》（副主编）获全国第二届教育科学研究优秀成果奖一等奖，《历史性跨越：民族教育超常规发展与民族地区发展研究》获第二届全国教育图书奖二等奖。
