在全球体系重新构建、民族国家激烈竞争的当今世界，如何讲好“中国故事”，使国民知晓自己、让世界认识中国，已成为关涉甚广的重要议题。本书立足中华民族“多元一体”格局及其与世界各民族的跨文化交往，梳理和总结人类学的中国故事。全书内容包括对西学东渐后人类学本土化问题的学科性思辨，同时也涉及了与之相关的个案论述。其中既有关于多民族中国的总体论述及夷夏关联的田野调研，也包括了以北美、不列颠及俄罗斯等地为例所做的跨文明比较。

徐新建，文学博士，四川大学中国俗文化研究所教授，文学与新闻学院博士生导师，国家社科基金重大项目首席专家，兼任中国比较文学学会文学人类学研究会会长、四川省比较文学学会会长，出版学术著作《西南研究论》《民歌与国学》《横断走廊：高原山地的生态与族群》及《多民族国家的文学与文化》等，荣获教育部人文社会科学优秀成果奖、中国出版政府奖提名奖与少数民族文学“骏马奖”、四川省哲学社会科学优秀成果奖一等奖等。
