The China-CEE Institute launched its first poll in the fall of 2017 to conduct an extensive survey on how people in 16 CEE countries view China's development. The survey was conducted by tender and in cooperation with professional pollsters, with 1,000 questionnaires per country, for a total of 16,000 questionnaires. The English version of the relevant results was published in Hungary by the China-CEE Institute. The Chinese edition was published in China by China Social Sciences Press in 2018 under the title "How Central and Eastern European Countries View China's Development: Based on a Questionnaire Survey Report of Central and Eastern European Residents". In the fall of 2018, the China-CEE Institute launched its second poll project, expanding the coverage of the survey from 16 countries to 18 countries, not only 16 CEE countries, but also Greece and Belarus. Similarly, the same sampling method, 1,000 questionnaires per country, for a total of 18,000 questionnaires, is used through tenders, in cooperation with professional polling agencies. This report is the result of a 2018 poll. In addition to analyzing public perceptions in 2018, a comparison with the results of the 2017 poll has been added. The China-CEEC Institute hopes to gradually accumulate a database through the annual poll project, and observe the changes in people's views on China's development in Central and Eastern European countries. Registered by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in April 2017 in Budapest, Hungary, China-CEE Institute Non-profit Co., Ltd. is the first independently registered new think tank in Europe in China. Adhering to the principle of pragmatic cooperation, the China-CEEC Institute steadily and actively seeks cooperation with think tanks in CEEC countries, and relies on Hungary to carry out academic and scientific research activities such as field research, cooperative research, joint publication, personnel training, and lecture series in CEE and even Europe.
