Since 1980, a large number of contemporary literary works have been successfully adapted into films. Why were these literary works chosen? And how did it adapt to what it is now? This book attempts to reveal the internal logic of film adaptation by deeply examining the adaptation experiences of twelve famous directors such as Xie Jin, Zhang Yimou, Chen Kaige, Jiang Wen, and Zhang Yuan. We believe that the director is the central link of the adaptation, playing a decisive role as both the reader of literature and the author of the film; Furthermore, the director's ideological concepts, image language, personality style, market awareness and other factors play an important role in the adaptation process. The process of adaptation is a complex dialogue between the art of the writer and the art of the director, and this book is devoted to revealing this process with a wealth of case studies.(AI翻译)
