This book reviews the development of Dunhuang studies in China in four stages. The first phase was divided into two periods, bounded by 1930. That is, 1909 to 1930 is the first period, which is the period of the rise of Dunhuang Studies. The establishment of the People's Republic of China from 1931 to 1949 was the second period, which was characterized by a great increase in the number of Dunhuang documents exposed by Chinese scholars, and the gradual expansion of the field of research. The second phase (1949-1978) was divided into two periods, beginning with the Cultural Revolution in 1966. In the former period, the focus of research was on the mainland, and in the latter period, the focus of research shifted to Hong Kong and Taiwan. After the reform and opening up in 1978 to 2000, the third stage was the period of rapid development of Dunhuang studies in China, and Chinese scholars gradually changed the situation of "Dunhuang in China, Dunhuang studies in Japan", and finally mastered the dominance and discourse power of international Dunhuang studies. The fourth stage (2001-2019) is the stage when Dunhuang studies in China began to transform, and Chinese scholars began to explore new paradigms and perspectives to open up new fields of Dunhuang studies while continuing traditional topics and traditional methods and paradigms. The writing of this book adopts the academic historical style, trying to analyze the achievements, characteristics and shortcomings of the works involved, and trying to show the position of the relevant works in the relevant research process and academic context.(AI翻译)
