全书分为上下编，上编侧重网络文学批评的历史呈现，从文本形态、批评主体、传播方式等角度，对网络文学批评做了系统的分析；下编则侧重以批评理论解读网络文学批评观念、批评标准、批评功能、批评影响力。同时，本书的导言强调网络文学必须入正统文学史，结语又对网络文学批评做了进一步追问，对于当代中国网络文学研究来说，批评是必不可少的环节，而欧阳友权教授长期从事网络文学研究，是当今学界网络文学方面研究权威。

欧阳友权，文学博士，中南大学文学院二级教授，博士生导师，国家教学名师。中国作协网络文学委员会副主任，中国作协网络文学委员会中南大学研究基地主任、首席专家，中国文艺评论家协会网络文艺委员会副主任。中国文艺理论学会网络文学研究会会长。国家社科基金重大招标项目首席专家。曾获第四届鲁迅文学奖，全国宝钢教师奖和中国文联文艺评论一等奖。
