The report on the development of Chinese statistics 2016-2017 aims at conducting researches on the issues which affect the development of Chinese statistical system. These studies intend to provide some theoretical support for the reform and development of official statistical system，as well as the innovation of statistical methods in China.National statistical system is an important infrastructure and a modern，scientific and efficient statistical system is vital for the development of China.This report consists of five research topics：1）the purchasing managers’index（PMI）of China； 2）the producer price index（PPI）of China； 3）the service industry statistics of China； 4）the statistics of international capital flow； 5）the international guidelines of government debt statistics. The research mainly focuses on the practice of Chinese statistics and the contents usually include the development history，status quo，main problems，advantages and disadvantages， opportunities and challenges，etc.. Each topic pays much attention to the assessment of data quality and international comparison with the international standards or other countries’practice. Furthermore，the direction and strategy for the future development is deeply discussed and some policy suggestions are put forward to promote Chinese statistics.
