The book systematically sorts out the progress and achievements of economic research over the past 60 years since the founding of New China, showing the miracle of New China's economic development and the prosperity of economic research. The study of economics in New China can be roughly divided into two stages: before and after the reform and opening up. Before the reform and opening up, the mainstream position in the field of economics was traditional socialist economic theory. At the same time, there are also some viewpoints that challenge the traditional socialist economic theory, such as the relationship between planning and the market, the role of the law of value, the separation of ownership and management rights, the principle of material interests, and the production price. After the reform and opening up, China's economics community ushered in the spring of a hundred schools of thought and theoretical innovation. Chinese economists have achieved a series of research results with theoretical value and practical significance by integrating theory with practice, making bold explorations and innovations, and gradually forming a socialist economic theory system with Chinese characteristics. The key ones include: the theory of socialist market economy, the theory of the initial stage of socialism, the theory of opening up to the outside world, the theory of the basic socialist economic system, the theory of combining distribution according to work and distribution according to other factors of production, the theory of Chinese-style economic growth, the theory of changing the mode of economic development, and the theory of gradual reform.
