当前全球化的基本特征是经济的全球化和生产的全球化。经济全球化已经带来了世界经济发展和人民福利增加，即全球化带来了巨大的经济收益。显然，在经济全球化的背景下，发达国家和发展中国家都获得了经济增长的收益。但是，应该看到，经济全球化的收益在各国之间是不均衡的、影响是非中性的。甚至有分析指出，经济全球化并没有带来世界各国共同发展和贫富差距缩小，各国之间发展的差异反而越来越大，一些发展中国家的贫困化变得更加突出。 更为重要的是，全球化与全球问题（特别是全球资源、生态环境问题）紧密相关，或者说全球化使得全球环境问题日益凸显。从可持续发展的视角评判，经济的全球化加大了各国之间资源、生态环境的“贫富”差距，形成了新的不公平。 在全球化的外部发展环境下，中国的可持续发展进程变得尤为艰难。为了应对全球化、促进和成就中国的可持续发展，需要对全球环境与发展的态势及中国处境进行深入的分析和理性的讨论。本卷《中国环境与发展评论》的主题是全球化背景下的中国环境与发展，全书分为四部分12章。第一部分总论；第二部分全球环境与发展问题：气候变化；第三部分国际贸易对中国可持续性影响分析；第四部分全球化与中国可持续发展的关系。本书注重运用马克思主义观点揭示全球化的本质特征、注重研究的独立判断与理性分析、注重定性分析讨论与定量研究的结合、注重对已有文献和数据的把握，力求刻画全球化对中国可持续发展的挑战，为国家的宏观决策提供思想理论积累。
The basic features of current globalization are the globalization of the economy and the globalization of production. Economic globalization has brought about world economic development and increased welfare of the people, i.e., globalization has brought about enormous economic gains. Obviously, in the context of economic globalization, both developed and developing countries have reaped the benefits of economic growth. However, it should be noted that the benefits of economic globalization are uneven among countries and its impact is non-neutral. Some analyses had even pointed out that economic globalization had not brought about common development and a narrowing of the gap between the rich and the poor in all countries of the world; on the contrary, the disparity in development among countries had become wider and the impoverishment of some developing countries had become more pronounced. More importantly, globalization is closely related to global problems (especially global resources and ecological and environmental problems), or globalization has made global environmental problems increasingly prominent. Judged from the perspective of sustainable development, economic globalization has widened the gap between the rich and the poor in terms of resources and the ecological environment among countries, creating new inequalities. Under the external development environment of globalization, China's sustainable development process has become particularly difficult. In order to cope with globalization and to promote and achieve sustainable development in China, it is necessary to conduct an in-depth analysis and rational discussion of the global environment and development situation and China's situation. The theme of this volume of China Environment and Development Review is China's environment and development in the context of globalization, and the book is divided into four parts and 12 chapters. Part I General Introduction; Part II Global Environment and Development Issues: Climate Change; Part III Analysis of the Impact of International Trade on China's Sustainability; and Part IV The Relationship between Globalization and China's Sustainable Development. The book focuses on the use of Marxist viewpoints to reveal the essential characteristics of globalization, on independent judgment and rational analysis of the research, on the combination of qualitative analysis and discussion and quantitative research, and on the grasp of existing literature and data, and seeks to portray the challenges of globalization to China's sustainable development, and to provide an accumulation of ideas and theories for the country's macro decision-making.
